Climate

Overall, Germany has a warm, temperate, wet climate with westerly winds. Extreme fluctuations in temperature are rare. Rain falls throughout the year. Mild winters (2ºC to -6ºC) and moderately hot summers (18ºC to 20ºC) are the norm.

The main language is German. However, you should be aware that there are many different regional accents and dialects, although High German is understood everywhere.Many Germans also speak good English, so there should not be any language barriers for foreign visitors.

The Euro
Official currency in Germany and Berlin is Euro. One Euro is divided into 100 Euro cents. The Euro is available in 1 and 2 Euro coins as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Cent coins. Banknotes are issued in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euro denominations.
Credit Cards & ATMs
Maestro Debit Cards are accepted at most shops and restaurants. Credit cards like VISA, Master Card and others are widely accepted, but American Express Cards are often refused. Money can be withdrawn at ATMs all over Berlin using debit and credit cards.
